AI agents
Connect your AI agent
Pyxida includes an MCP server, so GitHub Copilot, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code and other MCP apps can read your day and, if you allow it, add and update things. Everything runs on your computer.
The quick way (every OS)
- Open Pyxida and go to Settings > AI agents.
- Click Connect next to your app. Pyxida adds itself to that app's settings and keeps everything else in them.
- Restart the agent app. Pyxida's tools appear as
pyxida. - Optional: turn on Allow changes so the agent can add tasks, events, notes and expenses. Your agent app still asks before each change.
Try asking
- What do I have tomorrow?
- Move the dentist to next Thursday at 10:00.
- Remind me to call Ana on Monday, it's personal.
- How much did I spend on groceries this month?
- Will I need an umbrella this weekend?
- Summarize my notes about the Acme project.
Setting it up by hand
For other apps, or if Connect can't edit a config file (for example one with comments), copy the setup from Settings > AI agents > Set up another app by hand. The command is Pyxida itself with one argument, mcp:
Command: /Applications/Pyxida.app/Contents/MacOS/pyxida with argument mcp
- GitHub Copilot:
~/.copilot/mcp-config.json - Claude Desktop:
~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json - Cursor:
~/.cursor/mcp.json - VS Code:
~/Library/Application Support/Code/User/mcp.json
Command: the path shown in Settings, usually %LOCALAPPDATA%\Pyxida\pyxida.exe, with argument mcp
- GitHub Copilot:
%USERPROFILE%\.copilot\mcp-config.json - Claude Desktop:
%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json - Cursor:
%USERPROFILE%\.cursor\mcp.json - VS Code:
%APPDATA%\Code\User\mcp.json
In JSON, write backslashes twice: "C:\\Users\\you\\AppData\\Local\\Pyxida\\pyxida.exe".
Command: the AppImage where you saved it (for example ~/Applications/Pyxida.AppImage) or /usr/bin/pyxida for the .deb, with argument mcp
- GitHub Copilot:
~/.copilot/mcp-config.json - Claude Desktop:
~/.config/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json - Cursor:
~/.cursor/mcp.json - VS Code:
~/.config/Code/User/mcp.json
If you move the AppImage, open Pyxida once and click Update in Settings > AI agents.
If something doesn't work
- No Pyxida tools in the agent: restart the agent app; check that the path in its config exists.
- "Changes are turned off": turn on Allow changes in Settings > AI agents.
- "Open Pyxida and choose a workspace folder first": Pyxida hasn't been set up on this computer yet.
- "Points at an old copy" in Settings: you moved or reinstalled Pyxida; click Update.
- Read-only after the trial: reading keeps working; a license turns changes back on.
Privacy
Your agent app runs Pyxida on your computer. What the agent reads goes to the AI provider your agent app uses, under its terms. Pyxida itself sends nothing to us. The weather tool asks Open-Meteo for the place you name.
